THE second December was a very special day for Finnish Christians. We met in Turku, in the city located in East-Western Finland to thank Lord for our 100 years old Finland, and pray for our country. On this special day the focus was in whom we believe: Jesus Christ and the Cross, which is also in our flag.
In the photo above you may see our prime minister Juha Sipilä spoke warm hearted and appreciative speech about praying Christians and encouraged them quoting Philippians 1, verses 9-10:
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment, that ye may approve things that are excellent, and that ye may be sincere and without offense until the Day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
It vas a very impressiveto see how pennons of every city and county was carried in an array forming the cross and leaders of Finnish Christian churches, denominations and organisations prayed for Finland and specific prayer topics and Christians from varying backgrounds, counties, cities and villages from the north to south prayed joining the prayer.
